At Sherrill's they gave awards for things like most kids and most recently married or longest married. I was enjoying hearing the awards until they did most grand kids, that is GRAND KIDS. At first I thought they were joking, but there were several of her classmates who had kids who had kids that were older than the Boy. Nothing like a shot of reality to make you realize that yes you had children late(r) in life. Their Golden Years will be spent enjoying each other's company on long vacations and cruises with romantic nights under the moon while the chances of us being on a boat will be limited to the bathtub with a different type of moon. Without some careful planning our kids and their parents could be in diapers at the same time. Ah reality...
However at the same event with the awards, there was no shortage of big bellies and I'm not talking about the guys. There were at least 3 people pregnant, one was supposed to be on bed rest and showed up at the reunion in 3 inch heals, talk about school spirit.
One other laugh I had from the events was the name tags. Sure, there were the pictures with 80's hair styles and clothing, but it wasn't those I found ironic, it was that Sherrill's school spelled my name right while mine, people I have known for 20-30 years, spelled it wrong. Oh well, maybe someday...
