Now that Boy Wonder has become more active the opportunity for injury has increased exponentially. Walls, doors, tables, the floor and even himself pose imminent danger, so it is no surprise that he spends a lot of time dusting himself off and even shedding a few tears. Sometimes when the pain (or scare) of the crash has him frazzled his mom and I will go with the old standby " do you want me to kiss it" approach which seems to work a lot better than a childless adult might think. Interestingly, this approach is always initiated by us, meaning we were the kiss suggesters. If he took the initiative it was for a band-aid to put on the affected area or at least near the area.
All that ended last Friday; he and I were in his room trying to solve world peace or we were playing in a box pretending it was a boat, I forget; anyway, the boy fell over and landed his butt smack on the corner of a small wooden box. He busted in to tears and immediately jumped up, pointed his rear end at me and wailed "KISS IT".
What is a dad to do?
